Wildlife in Overthorpe: and the winner is ...

On behalf of the village’s wildlife, thank you to everybody who took part in this year’s “Make Overthorpe a wildlife-friendly village” competition! The deadline for entries has now passed and it is time to announce this year’s Wildlife Champions…

We have received some fantastic entries and selecting a winner has been really tough. But this year’s Wildlife Champions, and winners of four tickets to ZSL London/Whipsnade Zoo are…

The White Family at 16 Chetwode!!

Congratulations to the White family, whose efforts to help wildlife have included a rockery for toads, a micro-pond with resident newts, a home-made birdbox used by blue tits and wildflower patches which have attracted cinnabar moth caterpillars! Amazing work!

Special mentions should also go to Ruben and family at Dove House, where they have created a paradise for grass snakes, and to hedgehog heroes Anthony and Margaret at Lyndale.

Thank you again to all that have taken part. We will be running the competition again next year so get planning! Together, we can make Overthorpe a place where wildlife thrives.
